Message From The Honourable Rennie Dumas
Minister of Labour And Small and Micro Enterprise Development

TO
THE PUBLIC SERVICES ASSOCIATION OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
ON THE OCCASION OF ITS 70TH ANNIVERSARY
Achieving seventy (70) years of service to the working class of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is a significant milestone, for which, as Minister of Labour and Small and Micro Enterprise Development, I extend my sincerest congratulations to the President, Executive and members of the Public Services Association of Trinidad and Tobago.
I also take this opportunity to extend congratulations on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, my Acting Permanent Secretary Mr. Carl Francis and staff of the Ministry of Labour and Small and Micro Enterprise Development.
Your organization’s rich history bears significant testimony to the invaluable contributions which it has made, and I am sure will continue to make, to the labour and social landscape of our Republic.
From the early years of the Civil Service Association to the present Public Services Association of Trinidad and Tobago, and under gallant stewardship and astute leadership by persons such as Mr. John Lyon Smith, Mr. James Manswell, Dr. Kenrick Rennie and now, Mrs. Jennifer Baptiste-Primus, your organization has been a key partner in the development of the Public Services of our nation and your fellow citizens. Your partnership is evident in the roles which you have played, not only in the legislative review of matters relative to the terms and conditions of employment of public officers but in the promotion of sporting, social and cultural activities, the granting of scholarships to the Cipriani College of Labour and Co-operative Studies and bursaries tenable at the University of the West Indies, as well as in the provision of housing.
As the Government of Republic of Trinidad and Tobago seeks to position our twin island state and its people to meet the challenges and opportunities of a globalized, technologically driven and borderless world, the work of organizations such as yours will indeed serve as key platforms of support as we collectively aspire to the realization of the development goals of Vision 2020.
I look forward to your continued participation in our national development thrust and I again extend heartiest congratulations as you mark seventy (70) years of service.
Rennie Dumas
Minister of Labour and Small and Micro Enterprises
